Do or Die Debate: McCain Will Try to Shake Obama's Lead With Little Time Left Before Election Day

Tonight's debate is definitely crucial for John McCain. With Barack Obama expanding his lead in most polls, this is McCain's final chance to convince a wide audience of Americans that they should vote for him. Unfortunately for John McCain, history does not favor candidates who trail their challengers by as much distance as he does. Even if McCain overcomes some of the problems that have plagued his campaign, it may be too late for him.

My only hope is that this debate is not as boring as the last one. I thought I would never live to see a debate as terribly boring as the Cheney-Lieberman vice presidential debate of 2000. Well, amazingly, Obama and McCain broke new ground. It was too painful to watch. I expect a little more fire tonight, given the stakes. This could be a dealmaker.
